Dr.Rayford Thomas Iglehart, Sr.

Dr. Rayford Thomas Iglehart, Sr. was born April 30, 1951 to the late Superintendent Rubin and Missionary Billie Dove Iglehart. Dr. lglehart was educated in the school systems of Waco, Texas, and furthered his academic tenure at El Centro College, Bishop College, and Texas Southern University. He received his Doctorate of Theology Degree from the Gospel Ministry Outreach Theological Institute, Houston, TX, June 27, 2004.

At the young age of sixteen, Dr. Iglehart accepted the call into the ministry. For seven years he served as Assistant Pastor under the late S.E. Mitchell in Dallas, TX, and later labored as a national evangelist.

In August of 1980, Dr. Iglehart founded and organized The Garden of Prayer Church of God in Christ Ministries in New Orleans, LA. The ministry grew from one church to two churches, which were located in New Orleans and Marrero, LA. Being led by God in 1985, the ministry was consolidated and headquartered on the west bank. The television and radio ministries flourished under his vision.

On August 17, 1999, Dr. Iglehart was called to the Gloryland Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA. This call serves as just another level of ministry excellence that God has assigned to this man’s hands. The Gloryland Church is going from “Glory to Glory” under the leadership of Dr. Iglehart.

Dr. Iglehart is a highly sought after speaker, evangelist and clinician for national conventions and conferences. He has been seen on international TV networks such as – “BET” and “TBN.” Dr. Iglehart hosted a spot on local radio station WPFC. As of June 2004 he is ministering on Cable TV Channel 20 on the “Glory to Glory” Broadcast three nights per week. In the year of 1999 he released his musical “CD” entitled, “Celebrate.” The hit song “It’s My Time” was at the top of the charts in the southern region for weeks. In the year of 2000, he was featured on the “Glory in the House” CD with the Gloryland Baptist Church Recording Choir. Dr. Iglehart’s discology further includes him as guest recording artist on the “Pastors in Praise” and “Psalmstress” (by Paulette Wright-Davis) CD’s.

Additionally Dr. Iglehart is the published writer of a book of poems, Poems from a Black Man’s Heart and has co-authored with Dr. Sharon Iglehart, MD, a book which blends biblical teachings with psychiatric principles to bring wholistic living entitled, The Fifth Sparrow – A New Approach to Self-Esteem.

Dr. Iglehart is married to former R. JoAnn Clayton. They are proud parents, grandparents and great grandparents
